Troopers of Assam Rifles and officials of the Customs department have seized heroin in Mizoram along the Indo-Myanmar border.

Acting on a tip-off, troopers of Assam Rifles and officials of Customs department recovered over 119 grams of heroin at Zokhawthar town on the Mizoram-Myanmar border on Monday, an official of Assam Rifles said on Tuesday.

The contraband worth Rs 47.84 lakh was believed to be smuggled from Myanmar, he said.

In another t operation, Assam Rifles and Customs department also seized 52 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes at Chhungte village in Champhai district bordering Myanmar on Tuesday, the official said.

The smuggled goods worth Rs. 1 crore were handed over to Custom Preventive Force in Champhai for a further legal proceeding, he added.
