Addressing the media persons, Gaurav Gogoi reaffirmed his commitment to the Congress’s core values of equality and inclusiveness.
“Inspired by the ideology of leaders ranging from Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru to Hiteswar Saikia and my father, Tarun Gogoi, we will take the party forward together,” he added.
Notably, Gogoi’s appointment comes at a politically charged moment. He has recently faced allegations from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding his British wife’s supposed connections with Pakistan’s ISI, charges which Gogoi has firmly denied.
As the Assam Congress embarks on this new chapter under Gaurav Gogoi’s leadership, the party is now focusing all attention on how it will strategize, reorganize, and position itself ahead of the crucial 2026 state assembly elections.
