On Saturday, t teams of the Manipur police conducted operations in two districts: Kangpokpi and Imphal East. These districts have been particularly affected by the ongoing ethnic violence in the state.

Intelligence reports led security forces to Karong Bridge near Monglham in Imphal East district. A search of the abandoned camp yielded a 7.62mm sniper rifle with scope, two 9 mm pistols, a bolt action rifle, 17 live ammunition rounds, four hand grenades, and two picket grenades.

In another operation at Aigejang village in Kangpokpi district, security forces recovered similar items, including a 7.62mm sniper rifle, two 9 mm pistols, a bolt action rifle, ammunition, and grenades.

The seizure of these weapons and explosives is a significant blow to the anti-social elements operating in Manipur, said an Assam Rifles official.
